Build day. I was unable to start building the exhibition until the afternoon as the previous exhibition
was being removed in the morning, which had been open until the day before.
I was able to start hanging the pictures at about 1 pm. The framed images are hung by nylon
cords from the top of the white panels. These have hooks which can be moved up and down the
cord to get the frame at the right height. As I wanted all of the pictures at the same height, I had
to use a tape measure to set the position of each hook.

In the process of hanging the pictures, which took about two hours, I accidentally swapped the
position of two images, Over Tower and Abandoned Windmill, but as it did not alter the flow of
the exhibition, I decided to leave them where they were. When I had finished, I thought that one
corner of the gallery looked very bare, so I decided to place a plinth in that corner and stand up
my image, Ship of the Fens, on the plinth. This worked well, as that photograph does not have
the same dark nature as the other images, indeed, it has a white frame rather than a black one.
I have also used a print browser, which has some unmounted copies of some of the pictures, plus
some more of my photographs that I have taken locally over the years.
Having completed the hanging, I was given instruction on opening the gallery in the morning and
closing it at night, controlling the burglar alarm and setting the lights as I will be on my own for
at least three of the days of the exhibition.
