Arrived as the first invigilator opened up the Custom House to find the area surrounded by vehicles from Anglian Water. Not good for the exhibition as quite apart from the noise, they were extracting sewage from a manhole somewhere in the dock, resulting in a foul smell. They were there all day, resulting in only thirty-four visitors on a day when I would have expected more. Interestingly none of the many Anglian Water staff working outside came into the building, but we did have a visit from the engineer to make the regular check of the electricity supply and the fire alarm. I don’t know if it was due to the resulting disruption, but the only sale we had that day was a single card.
